Every restaurant in Chinatown wants to get your attention. With staff waiting outside the front doors, holding out menus to passers by, trying to entice them with their great Chinese food and affordable prices. It can often get a little overwhelming and annoying, trying to walk past with a menu from every restaurant shoved in your face.

However, one evening when looking for somewhere to eat walking through China Town, one restaurant stood out from the bombardment of menus. That restaurant was Nine Dragons, and has now become a favourite.

The restaurant can get quite busy, especially on the weekends, but generally it's quiet so it's a nice place to enjoy a great meal with friends or with your partner. Feel free to sit outside on a lovely summer day or evening, but if you prefer to sit inside, upstairs offers a lovely indoor dining area.

If you're a fan of Yum Cha, you can get it all day at Nine Dragons, or if you're just after traditional Chinese, you can get that too. One of my favourite things about Nine Dragons is the special lunch or dinner menu for two. For just $15 each for lunch, or $18 for dinner, you get a starter of chicken and corn soup, a dim sim and spring roll, then your choice of mains, served with either boiled or fried rice.

Their fried rice is delicious, but I tend to opt for the boiled rice as you get more. There is a nice selection of satay chicken, Mongolian lamb, beef in black bean sauce, lemon chicken, honey chicken, Singapore noodles, and more. It really is a good meal for two, as you can share each others mains, and there is plenty, so you get a decent amount of both dishes.

Of course there is dessert with the traditional fried ice cream, which I've yet to try here, but plan to. There is also a nice wine and drink selection to compliment your meal.

Nine Dragons is a great place for Chinese where you get what you pay for. It's affordable, the food is delicious and the wait staff are always friendly and helpful. It never takes too long for someone to take your order, and unless they're super busy, you're food comes out very quickly.
