The NightJar Festival just might be the ticket to end
New Year's Day in a relaxed manner. Named after a local owlet that lives on the land, this independent artists festival began in 2010 has gained momentum and now commands 10,000 punters a night. Nestled among trees along the riverbank by the ocean this is a combined night market, music festival and a platform for emerging designers to showcase their talents. The creators of NightJar, Lyndelle and Kyla are local Torquay residents and spend all year working on bringing the Nightjar to you in January.

Torquay - Thursdays: $5.00 entrance, under 18s free.
The entry fee is $5 and if you're under 18, it's free.
The NightJar Torquay is held at Torquay Common, near the intersection of Bell Street and Surf Beach Drive, Torquay. Parking is available at the Spring Creek Reserve.
You are encouraged to bring your picnic rugs and to get around with bicycles or on foot and to make use of the new bike racks. The team of NightJar love dressing up, so you will be greeted by girls in glorious outfits and even the bar attendants will be in costume. Enjoy a local beer from Otway Estate or a Sangria.
If you have experience working a busy bar and RSA, they're looking for someone to join their awesome team of bar people.

A night market, a music festival, a showcase for emerging designers
What a way to end New Year's day celebrating life and immersed in the magical atmosphere that is The NightJar. Dance to a variety of independent talented musicians or shop while you enjoy some great art installations. Catch up with friends for a coffee and cake at the Raj Jar tent while the kids are being captivated by magical fairies and story telling in the new children's area.
Below is a beautiful clip of the creative journey of designers Barney and Uscha who are coming to Nightjar 2015. Did you know that
NightJar now has a festival in Geelong as well. In its 2nd year it's smaller than Torquay but it has its own special city vibe.
Geelong NightJar operates every Friday night in February from 4pm to 10pm at Johnstone Park in the hub of the city and it's a gold coin entry.
