Have a night off the couch on a summer's night
Now the warm weather is here, bowling clubs across the State are recruiting now for interested people to join up for Night Owls Bowls. These games are not the regular daytime pennant games played between clubs. Although still a competition, Night Owls have more of a fun social element and only played on weekday evenings, usually Tuesday, Wednesday or Thursday. Therefore the target is people who work and want to enjoy bowls on more social level. They are open to all adults, and lawn bowls is wheelchair friendly. How about gather a group of friends and make a team, or perhaps some work colleagues where you can go and have some chill out time after work. Rather than sitting around at the pub or on the couch after work, this activity will get you up and moving, which is beneficial if you have a sedentary job. If you dont have any mates to make a team the club can put you into one.

See the Bowls SA website and then click on the "get involved tab". Here you will find all the clubs in the State that offer Night Owls, or sometimes called Barefoot Bowls. There is sure to be a club close to you, both suburban and country. Club members are on hand to give you some pointers and explain the purpose of the game.
Bowls is currently having a revival as many more than seniors are learning the sport. Night Owls is suitable for all adults who are looking at bowls as a fun and social game where you can meet others and still have some conversation in a relaxed environment. You wont have to wear any sort of uniform, but flat rubber soled shoes are essential to protect the immaculate green lawn and your feet from a dropped bowling ball. Balls are provided. Bar service is available and many clubs have food available for sale. So get out and enjoy the summer nights after being cooped up indoors out of the heat all day, and give bowls a try. Its loads of fun.
