What would you do if someone you love revealed their decision to end their life? What if you find yourself completely unaware and unprepared to your beloved ones' dramas and desperation? Why people take their own lives? Do we have a right to die as we have a right to live?
Night, Mother brings to the surface these and other questions in an emotional whirlpool that will keep you at the edge of your seat until the very end. The play deals with the challenging themes of depression and suicide during a significant moment: Mental Health Week running from the 7th to the 14th of October.
The audience witnesses the drama in the relationship between a mother (Thelma) and daughter (Jesse) torn apart by the devastating effects of depression. The story also unravels a parent's worst nightmare: How can Thelma convince her daughter that life is worth living if she can't feel her pain? How can she end her daughter's embrace of death before morning?
The play has the striking performance of Susannah Churchman and Caroline McDonnell, directed by Gino Cataldo and written by Marsha Norman.
Winner of the 1983 Pulitzer Prize for Drama and Tony Award nomination for Best Play
