Mawson Park on the main street of Campbelltown comes to life every first and third Friday of the month until the 15th December 2017. Make sure you make the most of your visit and bring your picnic blanket because you'll be treated to live performers under the stars and plenty of amazing street food treats, not to mention some great little boutique stalls.
As we arrived, we were delighted by how charming it looked, lights hung above us, aromas swirled around us in odd but curious combinations - coffee and hot chips, baked pies and fairy floss, Tom Yum and cinnamon. The atmosphere was laid-back and friendly, which made for a lovely Friday night.
Kids will love the vendor selling fairy floss on glowing sticks, parents not so much. When all the sugar has been consumed, however, we noticed the jumping castle standing by, ready to handle all that extra energy!
We indulged in a few treats for our dinner after wandering around and checking out what was on offer. The highlight was the salt & vinegar hot chips we sampled– they were delicious so the wait in line was justified. We then came across colourful drinks being served in light globe glasses.
The Night Food Markets are all thanks to Eat Shop Love, supported by Campbelltown Council. Eat Shop Love are bringing the Macarthur, Illawarra & Southern Highlands areas a new way to experience great food, shopping & events.
The markets are held in almost all weather conditions. The next food markets are being held on the 15th of September, Mawson Park, Queen Street Campbelltown, from 5:00pm – 9:00pm.
Plenty of street parking can be found around the Campbelltown CBD or in either Broughton or Short Street car parks.
Opposite the markets, is Campbelltown RSL, if you want to keep your Friday night going.
