Spark your creativity this spring with a NIDA short course in Adelaide!

From 3–8 October, NIDA Open will be at Christian Brothers College, giving people of all ages the opportunity to explore their creative side and engage in a variety of drama short courses.

With extensive backgrounds in theatre, TV and film, NIDA tutors deliver enriching learning experiences in every class, by catering to the varied artistic interests and skills of their students.

Whether you're a future star of the stage or just have an interest in performing, NIDA Open can help you star in your own creative journey.

 

  • NIDA Heroes, Villains and Spies: Screen Acting

    Get ready for some outrageously fun on-screen antics as you act out scenes from famous hero, villain and spy adventures. Stop moving trains, intercept international secrets and save the world – all from the safety of the rehearsal room! Develop skills in acting and characterisation as you rehearse and film scenes to camera. Present live and on-screen scenes at the end of the course for family and friends.

    Dates & times: Tue 3–Thu 5 Oct 2017, 10am–5pm

    Grades: 4-7

  • NIDA Bites

    Be challenged by a smorgasbord of several drama skills in one day. Be introduced to voice, movement, improvisation and acting skills in a taste test of what NIDA has to offer.

    Grades: 4-7

    Course fee: $165

     

  • Acting Boot Camp

    A fast-paced intensive course for acting recruits: build skills in fundamental acting technique including improvisation, character development and scenework. Perform scenes for family and friends at the end of the course.

    Dates & times: Sat 7–Sun 8 Oct, 10am–5pm

    Grades: 4–7, 8–10

    Course fee: $325

     

  • NIDA Drama School

    A comprehensive course for committed young people. Develop performance skills including improvisation, voice and movement, devising, acting and rehearsing scenes. Perform scenes at the end of the week for family and friends.

    Dates & times: Tue 3–Fri 6 Oct, 10am–5pm

    Grades: 8–10

    Course fee: $500

     

  • NIDA Acting 101

    Sharpen your performance skills through a comprehensive workshop with a theatre practitioner drawing on NIDA acting techniques. Develop key principles of actor training, and extend into characterisation and scenework. Interpret, rehearse and present some of the most exciting writing produced for young people today.

    Dates & times: Tue 3–Fri 6 Oct, 10am–5pm

    Grades: 11–12

    Course fee: $500

     

  • Auditions Masterclass

    Get audition ready with NIDA experts as you learn the skills of audition preparation. Practise, present and perfect your material and participate in a simulated audition process.

    Dates & times: Sat 7–Sun 8 Oct, 10am–5pm

    Grades: 11–12

    Course fee: $325

     

  • Screen Acting Techniques

    Develop an understanding of screen acting techniques and explore their application to short scenes from contemporary film and television. Discover your on-screen presence and gain confidence in performing truthfully on camera.

    Dates & times: Tue 3–Fri 6 Oct, 10am–5pm

    For ages 18

    Course fee: $500

     

  • NIDA Audition Preparation

    If you are auditioning for acting courses at NIDA or elsewhere, preparation, practice and presence are key. Work on your audition pieces so that you're open to the challenges of the audition process.

    Dates & times: Sat 7–Sun 8 Oct, 10am–5pm

    For ages 18
