Are you looking to boost your drama skills with a fun short course this spring? Then look no further than NIDA.

From 5–11 October, NIDA Open will be holding a variety of performing arts classes for people of all ages in Canberra.

Whether you are looking to have some fun with friends, try something new, refresh your skills or get serious with some professional development, there's a course to suit you.

NIDA Open has been educating and training Australians in theatre, TV and film for over 20 years. Based on NIDA's world-renowned training techniques, courses are led by experienced tutors and deliver an enriching experience for everyone.

Courses will be held at Daramalan College (121 Cowper St, Dickson).

Acting for Stage and Screen

Experience the power of voice, movement and improvisation as you rehearse and perform scenes from plays, films and TV. Workshop scenes to camera and perform for family and friends at the end of the course.

Hitting Your Mark: Screen Acting

Whether you're in Home & Away or The Avengers, one of the most important skills is being able to 'hit your mark'. It can also be the hardest to master. Develop the technical ability to be on target, scene after scene, with this intensive screen workshop. Explore working with scripts from television and film, acting in high-stakes situations while maintaining the ability to master positions and props with precision.

NIDA Actors Project

Experience the core tenets of NIDA actor training. Collaborate with a recent graduate from the NIDA Higher Education program to create voice, movement and devised performance projects. This course results in a presentation demonstrating all three areas to an invited audience including family and friends.

NIDA Acting Techniques

Develop core acting skills in voice, movement, improvisation and characterisation. Respond to scripts, relate to others effectively and perform with ease and skill.

Space Travellers: Intergalactic Adventures

Fly to the moon, swing on a star but beware the black hole! Create intergalactic characters and explore the outer reaches of the universe in an out-of-this-world acting adventure. Devise scenes based on the characters you create and present your scenes for family and friends at the end of the course.

Auditions and Screen Tests

Become confident in how to present yourself to a director by practising auditions for theatre, film and TV.

Auditions Masterclass

Get audition ready with NIDA experts as you learn the skills of audition preparation. Practise, present and perfect your material and participate in a simulated audition process.

Audition Essentials

Discover how to get an audition, what kind of scenes to choose and how to best prepare for the audition process. You will be expected to learn a two-minute monologue of your choosing prior the commencement of this course.
