Twice a year, the combined powers that are the students of NIDA put on 5 mainstage shows at the same time. It is a crazy and stressful time for the students involved, but everyone takes pride in the productions, striving to create professional quality shows.
Cymbeline - Directed by Tom Wright, featuring second year actors and an assortment of costume, design, props and production students from first to third year.
Woyzeck (musical) - Directed by Imara Savage, featuring the second and third year musical theatre students and an assortment of costume, design, props, staging and production students from first to third year.
Sucking Dublin - Directed by James Dalton, with graduating actors and the previously mentioned group.
Hinterland (commissioned work by Jane Bodie) - Directed by Julian Meyrick, graduating actors etc, this is the first production in the new Atrium.
And finally, Osama the Hero - Directed by Nicholas Bone, graduating actors and friends.
Everyone involved is extremely talented, the shows are truly first class. NIDA students have a knack for pulling off the impossible.
I would recommend these productions to anyone who enjoys a night out at the theatre. Added bonus, you get to say you saw them act before they were famous. Who knows, the next Cate or Hugo might be about to start their professional career.
