Nice Cafe

is, how shall I say it...
nice! The people are nice, the food is nice, the ambience is nice and the view is nice - it is the most aptly named cafe that you will find. It is located under the
cafe at Nelson Bay/@-32.72076,152.144607,15z/data=!4m5!3m4!1s0x0:0xea5af11c71ffb11f!8m2!3d-32.72076!4d152.144607 Nelson Towers Motel , which you can access through an arcade on Magnus Street in the heart of Nelson Bay, or you can walk to it over the pedestrian bridge on Victoria Parade. Most of the dining area is outside underneath umbrellas and as soon as you walk in, a welcoming staff member invites you to take a seat and then provides you with a menu - inside a classic children's Golden Book! How nice is that?
If you have school-aged children who enjoy a good book, then they will love the extensive menu that doubles as a book for them to read at the table while you wait. If you have younger children, there is also a small toddler toy area inside, with a range of toys to play with. In all, you couldn't find a nicer way to start a family breakfast, than at the Nice cafe!
When you are able to get the menu off your kids to have a look at the options, there is a wide range of breakfast meals that you can customise to suit your tastes. On our visit, we chose the Eggs Benedict with crisp bacon rashes and the Smashed Avo with seasoned button mushrooms, while our daughter was happy with a Baby Chino and raisin toast. If your kids want something more substantial, there is also a breakfast menu just for kids. As they don't have a website and their
Facebook doesn't have a menu to peruse before you visit, see the photos below of just some of the pages in their Golden Book menu. Click on

While we waited for our meals, our coffees were quickly brought out to us and to say that we were impressed, was an understatement. Both of them were creamy and beautifully-made, with a biscotti and vintage teaspoon on the side of the plate. We downed them so quickly, we ordered another to have with our meals. Yes, they were
that good!
When our meals arrived, they were delicately-presented and although the Smashed Avo with mushrooms was tasty, it was the Eggs Benedict with the more-ish, mustard-flavoured hollandaise that was the winner out of the two. We all enjoyed our meals, the location and watching the constant parade of locals and tourists who came to take a seat - who all seemed to know about this casual cafe, overlooking the foreshore.
When we left, we were bid a friendly farewell from the grandfatherly gentleman who had been chatting to the customers, as if we were old friends who he would see again soon.
Nice café may not have the latest funky furniture or a long list of coffee combinations to try, like the cafes in Sydney 2.5 hours away, but what it
does have is Nelson Bay friendly hospitality - which you just can't manufacture. Why don't you track it down this weekend?
