Nibbles the Book Monster is a fairy tale-inspired children's picture book about a grinning little monster called Nibbles who loves to nibble his way through books.
Nibbles the Book Monster was written and illustrated by Emma Yarlett and published by
Little Tiger Press in Great Britain in 2016. It is 20 pages long and is suitable for children between 3 and 5 years old.
Nibbles the Book Monster caught my attention because it has a bright yellow front cover that Nibbles has chomped his way through. Nibbles is peeking through the hole with a mischievous look on his face. Nibbles is small, round, bright yellow and has a pair of small pointed horns on his head. He could be Kirby's cousin.

ibbles the Book Monster is an interactive children's flap book. In the book Nibbles escapes his cage and chews his way out of his own book and starts chomping and biting his way through a number of classic fairy tale books. What makes this book fantastic is how it draws the child into the story. The child can open Nibble's cage and let him out and every time he chews through a page there is an actual hole in the page designed to look like something has chewed through it. And when Nibbles starts hopping through books that are not his own there are books within the book that you can open and turn the page.
Last Christmas my daughter was gifted some Barbie books. She has been obsessed with them ever since.
Nibbles the Book Monster was the book that finally broke her Barbie obsession. The first time I read it to her, she was completely enraptured, smiling and laughing and turning the flaps and sticking her fingers through the holes in the pages. The next morning, she took Nibbles and sat on the couch and flipped through the book again, turning the pages and laughing at the illustrations. And later that night she requested we read her Nibbles again.
Nibbles the Book Monster has become her new favourite book.
Nibbles the Book Monster was an extremely well written and creative book. It has sold over half a million copies across five continents and it has won a number of awards. I really cannot recommend this book enough. The peek-through holes provide a unique tactile experience to children and the colours and the illustrations really helped to bring the book to life.
