The Kids Space at NGV International on St Kilda Road is a beautiful, enriching and entertaining art space for children. A great pit stop and mecca for them to appreciate quality art and appreciation of colour. Their ongoing Kaleidoscope - Art and Colour exhibition helps children do exactly that, and is bright and colourful in tandem with their new NGV Kids Club, which has just launched and is designed for children up to 11 years of age. Membership is just $50 per year, and every child who joins receives a variety of goodies to stimulate their creativity and art. The National Gallery of Victoria also has a variety of different classes for children to enjoy from painting to clay.
It is so great to see an Art Gallery that not only focuses on adults, but also on children as well. In the Kids Space children get to play with pieces to create a piece of art as well as draw, and the Kaleidoscope - Art and Colour exhibition enables children to gain a greater appreciation of colour. For instance when we mix blue and yellow, we might get green for instance, so its learning how to be creative and resourceful with paints. Takes one back to art at primary school. Great to take any youngster who wants or needs to appreciate creativity, and the great news is this space is ongoing.
