Ngarrindjeri Yunnan Yaluwar Ruwe - Ngarrindjeri Speaking for SeaCountry is an exhibition which opened on the 2nd June and runs until 16th July at Murray Bridge Regional Art Gallery.

It was officially opened on Sunday 6th June by the gallery director Melinda Rankin. The opening was well attended and featured a Welcome to Country and smoking ceremony by Uncle Moogy and the Tal Kin Jeri dancers.

The exhibition is in the main gallery and includes paintings, pottery, woven sculptures and even digital works. The thing which is really exciting to see is a bark canoe. The canoe - Uncle Moogy's Yuki, is the first built in this part of the country for 150 years! You've seen the canoe trees before, now come and see the product!

Works by Damien Shen, Cedric Varcoe and Lyn Lovegrove Niemz adorn the walls and will hold your attention for some time.

The woven sculptures of Kondoli the Whale and Pondi the Murray Cod by Ellen Trevorrow, Ngarrindjeri Weavers and Change Media are imposing and beautiful examples of mixed media art.

A lot of the work, including the weaving and pottery is available for purchase. Held side by side with Handheld 2 and Wahini Toa, the combined exhibition of local art is something truly worth seeing. If you haven't been for a while, go check it out, Murray Bridge will surprise you.
