What do comedians Tim Minchin, Rove McManus, Claire Hooper and Brendon Burns all have in common?

They all hail from Perth!

Little wonder the Perth International Comedy Festival and local comedy promoters Vulture Culture are searching for Australia's next up-and-coming comedian in the 'most remote city on earth!'

Dubbed 'Next Gen Comedy', this brand new competitive event will see the good people of Perth decide who is the best in the West; yes, 'with great power comes great responsibility!'

The competition will include five heats with each show hosted by a hilarious comedy MC along with seven to eight competing comedians and one grand final to decide which local comedian is good enough to swing it with the best of them!

The major prize is a professional paid spot on the big stage at Rottofest 2014.

Let the wise-cracks, laughing and voting begin!

All the fun takes place on May 1,2,3,15,16,17 at The Velvet Lounge, Flying Scotsman (Mt Lawley) (see below for event times and programme).
