I escaped to Sydney over 11 years ago and haven't looked back since. I enjoy going to cafes, local markets and festivals, and finding the best views in town for free. Visit my twitter page: https://twitter.com/sydneyonabudget

Spend your Sunday at Camperdown Memorial Rest Park in Newtown this November for a day of music, fun and inspiration.

This year, the theme is Home is Where the Heart is.

Newtown is pulling out at all the stops (or heartstrings if you will) for its much-loved annual event being held on 13 November. Four music stages, a writers' tent and a dog show are just some of the festivities on offer, in return for a kind-hearted donation on entry.

Funds raised will go towards supporting the Newtown Neighbourhood Centre's efforts in helping the homeless and those at risk. Find out about the work the NNC does here: www.newtowncentre.org

Top 4 reasons to attend

Here are just a few reasons why this event is not to be missed:

1. The extensive music line-up has something for everyone. Acts include The Griswolds, Dweeb City, AKA BAZ and Stereogamous. Spend the day listening to tunes featuring a wide variety of genres such as electronic, RNB, indie-pop, country and more.

2. Local Newtown eateries including Black Star Pastry and Oscillate Wildly will be dishing up their finest. They will undoubtedly be popular among festival-goers with nothing over the price of $10

3. The dog show alone is worth going for. Quirky contests such as the celebrity look-a-like and pick-up-poo race is guaranteed to make it a memorable day out

4. The Green Living Centre's Eco Village will inspire you to live more sustainability without having to go off-grid. Discover ways to reduce your footprint by finding out about community initiatives, such as food co-ops and solar energy projects
