If you happen to be on the inner North side and you are looking for a really nice place to just chill and have a brew, the is pretty hard to beat.

Located on the busy Kelvin Grove Road, the or NH contains within it the feeling of being buffered from it all. Cool carpets and funky stained glass behind the sports bar, along with armchairs and stools make the front bar section of the NH really nice to just sit and have a quiet drink.

Out of all of the times I've been there during the afternoon, the only day it was rowdy was Melbourne Cup day, which is to be expected. Otherwise, it's a really nice place to have a quiet drink.

The gaming lounge serves deep fried snacks every day at four o'clock and the atmosphere through the whole establishment is one of relaxed charm. An assortment of mini pies, sausage rolls, dim sims and curry puffs, complimentary to those having 'a flutter'.

I would also have to say that in addition to my answers regarding What's your favourite reading spot? by B Walkin, the NH during the afternoon, especially on a hot day, is right up there on my list.

I often receive querying looks and random questions as to why I read in a bar but the answer is quite simple. You can't drink beer and smoke in a library.

For this reason and the proximity of the NH to my house, I would rate it quite highly on places to check out, when you've little else to do.

I definitely plan to try the food and check out the Sit Down Comedy Club night they hold and will most probably review accordingly.
