Newman Expresso is one of those cafes that you wouldn't know was there unless you stumbled upon it or went looking for it. Situated on a lane of a side street, it was pure luck that I stumbled upon this place by taking a short cut to the supermarket late one night. However, it looked interesting enough that I would try out the next morning when I went to get my daily coffee fix.
I was therefore surprised when I went down in the morning and found a bit of a line to order. I didn't think this place given its location would be this popular, alas I was wrong and I think the reason why it is popular is because of its quality food and drink. I came to the conclusion that the quality was the attraction of the cafe because the coffee I had was really nice and definitely better than most coffees I have had over the years. However, what I liked most was the option to use a reusable coffee cup and in turn save 50 cents.
Although if it's something more substantial than coffee that you're after, Newman Expresso does offer a range of foods including jaffels, doughnuts, salads and wraps to fill the spot. They all looked delicious and some were gluten free and/or vegan, ensuring that despite food restrictions, everybody can get something delicious to eat and drink at this hidden gem.
