Newcastle Memorial Walk

A relatively easy walk with unsurpassed views

Located above Memorial Drive, the Newcastle Memorial Walk is a spectacular clifftop walkway connecting The Hill and Bar Beach. It extends across 450 metres and features a 160-metre bridge adorned with ANZAC steel silhouettes. Inscribed on these silhouettes are the names of thousands of Hunter Valley servicemen and servicewomen. As we walk for pleasure, let us remember those who walked into battle.

Besides being a magnificent memorial, the walkway also offers views that are second to none. You'll be able to see both the coastline and the city as you make your way around the edge of the cliff. Sunsets and sunrises are particularly great. In winter, the migrating whales can be spotted too.

This walk is relatively easy and would be suitable for most fitness levels. I'd recommend starting at the Strzelecki Lookout end in The Hill. For more information, please head to www.newcastle.nsw.gov.au.
