Newcastle City Farmers Market is held every Sunday "rain hail and shine", between 7am and 1pm at the
Newcastle Showgrounds . If you love a farmers' market, you will love this bustling market which attracts thousands of Newcastle locals each week. Buy direct straight from the farmer with a wide range of home-grown and organic fruits, vegetables, meats, flowers, eggs, plants and other produce that you won't find anywhere else. As well as farmers' produce, there are also clothing stalls, gourmet foods, jewellery, coffee and food trucks, so bring your appetite! Check out the Newcastle City Farmers Market website
here for all the stallholders and details.
Entry to the market is free, however, parking costs $3 at the gate (or you can park on surrounding streets for free if you're early enough!) Don't forget your recycle bags or your pull-along trolley, if you intend to buy a lot. Please note that dogs aren't allowed, so please leave your dogs at home.
Prices and times correct at the time of writing, February 2025 - please check their website for updated details.
Don’t forget your bags and trolleys so you can buy up big!
The pathways are lined with market stalls on both sides - look for the stalls with the longest lines, as that’s where you will find loyal customers coming back each week for the best produce at the best prices. Many of the stalls also have taste testing, so you can try before you buy.
There are inside and outside stalls where you will find farm fresh eggs, fresh meat packaged in vacuum bags, handmade jams, fresh bread, juicy vegetables, fruit by the tray and seasonal treats. If anyone in your household is vegan, has food allergies or is gluten-free, check out
Bakers Chemistry near the entrance. It is such a relief for those with dietary restrictions to be able to enjoy a brownie or buy some fresh bread, without any of the nasties!
Wander the stalls, inside and outside
Bakers Chemistry - a must-stop for all coeliacs!
At the end of the market, there is a grassy area with food trucks all around the outside, so you can buy breakfast, lunch or just a snack at the various trucks. There are also picnic tables dotted around the grassy area and large outdoor picnic blankets laid out for customers to sit on. On our visit, there was a young man busking and playing the guitar beautifully nearby, creating a relaxing morning in the sunshine.
You won't be able to walk by and smell the delicious smells wafting your way, without buying something to enjoy as you walk around. Good coffee, good food and a chilled community vibe - what more do you need for a fun Sunday morning out in Newcastle!
Pick up coffee and breakfast, then stay for lunch!
Cheers to a fun Sunday morning out in Newcastle!
