Jo Gapper was a councillor and Mayor for the Munno Para for many years. She was passionate about greening the community and provided green spaces. This is a wonderful activity park and playground dedicated to her memory and contribution to the community. This activity park has a host of leisure options for singles families and couples of all ages.

The park is located in Blackburn Road, Hillbank in Adelaide's northern suburbs. It seems to be well hidden and is indeed a local facility that only locals seem to know about. However if you are looking for some sports facilities to use for free then this is ideal place to pay a visit. The kids will love to visit this new playground and have a run about on the large grassed areas.

The playground area is all new and there are new footpaths around the area. Parents could supervise children well here as it is close to some seating, and the covered shelter is raised up a little so you can see below to the grassed area also.

There is something for everyone at this activity park. The large grassed area has some football goals and is a big space without trees for flying kites or tossing a frisbee. There are other sports facilities including a tennis court with shelter, and a netball court.

There are two all new sheltered picnic areas with barbeque. One is next to the playground and the other on the other side of the driveway near the sports courts. At present these facilities are under utilised because people cannot stay too long for reasons I will explain below. Hence this is a very peaceful park and hardly anyone about on a week day. It is also located away from busy roads so no noisy traffic like other parks on Main North Road.

This park and playground is well catered to families and has clean new modern facilities. However there is one thing missing. There are no toilets. Apparently there was some but they were vandalised so have been removed. As this park has had a major refurbishment recently, I am sure toilets will soon be available. Meanwhile the closest would be at Carisbrooke Park on Main North Road in Salisbury or Freemont Park a little further north in Elizabeth.

Even your fur babies are catered to here, as further up the track from the car park is the dog exercise area. Read more about The Jo Gapper Dog Park here

The activity park sits on the edge of a hill and you can take a walk past the dog park and on up the hill past to the Rotary Lookout. Older kids would love this challenge to reach the top of the hill. The track is closed to traffic and would take about thirty minutes to walk up there, but don't have too much to drink before you go.
