For many people, karaoke is a way of shedding their inhibitions and even taking on another persona, at least for a little while. Perhaps that's why karaoke bars in New York City are so popular.

Fortunately, there are several to choose from, so you shouldn't have trouble finding one that is close to where you live or work. When you do find one, pick your favorite song, grab the mike, and cut loose.

Sing Sing Karaoke, 81 Avenue A, Apt. 1

Sing Sing Karaoke is so popular that the rooms are often all taken. To avoid this aggravation, call ahead and reserve a room. This way, you'll be assured that you and your guests will have your own space to perform without having to wait.

Further, Sing Sing Karaoke also lets you choose the songs you wish to perform in advance. You simply choose them from among the 20,000 (more or less) that are available, put them in the order you wish to perform them, and e-mail your list to the club.

These special touches assure you that Sing Sing Karaoke is determined to make you enjoy your karaoke night. So, make your reservation, choose your songs, and come on down.

Karaoke DUET 35, 53 W. 35th Street, Floor 2

Karaoke DUET 35 has been open in 1997, and has seen karaoke continue to grow and grow. As mentioned earlier, karaoke allows you to be someone else for a little while, and the owners of Karaoke DUET 35 want you to have the perfect place to do that.

The club can be rented for private parties or you and your friends can simply come on down and enjoy a night of karaoke fun. You'll love the atmosphere and get the maximum enjoyment out of your karaoke night.

Inhabit Karaoke Lounge, 39 Eldridge Street

This establishment is located in Chinatown on the building's third floor. Once you make the ascent into the Inhabit Karaoke Lounge, you'll find a space of more 5,000 square feet that is occupied by bars and suites just right for enjoying karaoke.

Choose from any one of the nine suites, depending on your group's size. The largest room can hold up to 50 people, and each room has LCD monitors that measure anywhere from 42" to 58".

You select your songs from the touch screen, use the LED lighting control to adjust the lights, including a disco light, and start enjoying your karaoke night. When you're finished, you can tell your friends about all the fun you had at Inhabit Karaoke Lounge.

Biny, 5 Thompson Street, 2nd Floor

This is the only karaoke establishment that has fully computerized equipment that is individualized, making your experience one-of-a-kind. There are seven private rooms as well as a lounge, so you and your party will have plenty of space to have fun.

The next time you have a birthday, anniversary, or other special event; consider renting one of the rooms at Biny. You and your guests will be glad you did, and the event will be remembered for a long time.

Radio Star, 3 W. 35th Street

This establishment has a 550 square foot floor with a stage, private rooms for 4 to 40 guests, and rooms for corporate events. No matter what the occasion may be, you can celebrate it at Radio Star. Radio Star also offers drink specials on different nights, making your karaoke experience even more memorable. So, gather a bunch of friends and come on out to this exciting karaoke venue.
