If you're traveling in New York with other adults, or if you have somewhere to stash the kiddies for a few hours, take a very unusual, as well as risqué tour of the New York Sex Museum. You'll be surprised at what you'll find here.

The permanent exhibits at the New York Museum of Sex range from topics such as "Sex and Animals," "Sex and Robots," and "Get Off," just to name a few. These are only a sampling of the exhibits you'll see at the museum, but they were chosen because their titles pretty much describe what the exhibits are about.

You may think that the "Sex and Animals" exhibit may seem rather tame, especially since you see such things on nature shows on TV all the time. You know the ones—you're not sure if you should block them or let the kids watch them for the educational value. After you've seen this exhibit, you will have no more qualms about letting your kids watch animals doing what comes naturally on the TV shows.

The "Sex and Robots" is another exhibit that pretty well describes what you'll see. An internationally-known artist who has lent his expertise to various films and TV shows that feature animation does the same here with this exhibit; however, the brief stop-action film that is shown here is explained as one that would be imagined by "robot pornographers".

And, the "Get Off" exhibit? Yep, it's talking about exactly what you think it is. It is an exhibit that explores the many and varied ways in which people—ahem—achieve sexual pleasure. That's the only way this description can be worded without this article itself being censored.

Again, this is an adults-only attraction. No one under the age of 18 is admitted, so you'll need to keep that in mind.

The Museum is located at 233 5th Avenue (5th Avenue and 27th Street.) You can get to the museum easily by either bus or subway, or if you prefer to drive, you can park at one of the four parking garages located near the Museum. You might want to park at the furthest one, so that you'll have a brisk walk coming back from the museum. You might need it.

So, if you want to do something that is very different from the usual "touristy" New York things, visit the New York Museum of Sex. No matter how "jaded" you think you are, you'll still most likely find yourself saying, "Whoa!" a few times.
