Watch Fireworks, Eat, Drink and Be Merry and Farewell 2014
It can feel a little clichéd but it you haven't been to South Bank to see fireworks before, you really need to do it at least once in your life. This New Year's Eve promises to be another cracker with two great shows over the evening for the early birds (8:30pm) and the night owls (midnight).

Forget taking the car as it's usually difficult to find a park and instead take a bus, train or ferry straight to the parklands and enjoy the freedom in knowing you don't need to drive anywhere at the end of the night.

There's also a place to get your kids wristbanded so that in the event you get separated, the staff there can call you to collect them from the kiosk. If you want to make them stand out even more, grab some glow sticks from the nearby South Bank Beach News in Stanley Street Plaza. It's a safe and fun atmosphere for both kids and adults and it will get you into the New Year's spirit.

There's some great places to eat along SouthBank with quite a few hotspots to visit for a bite to eat or a drink. For some tapas and a fancy glass of wine, book yourself a ticket at Fifth Element where you can eat, drink and talk the night away with a group of friends.

Stop in for a quick beer and a pizza at The Charming Squire which is set back from the river but has a great view of the Wheel of Brisbane and a little bit of the fireworks zone.

Ole Sangria Bar is another great tapas bar which is closer to the action but has plenty of seating and a great alcohol menu to match their delicious Spanish delicacies.

So if you've never been and you're up for watching the best fireworks of your life along with half of Brisbane, this truly is an event you shouldn't miss. Once you've done it, you might even make it a tradition.
