Sync Your Singing
Taking over the Twitter world these past few weeks is a New Year's music meme.

Song enthusiasts (and even the artists themselves) have chimed in with a fun time calculation that will have you singing along to just the right words at the stroke of midnight on New Year's Eve.

The meme starts with "If you play" and ends with "Start off your New Year right". People have timed songs, movie lines and theme songs for TV shows to come up with an interesting and imaginative way to see in 2018.

There are dozens of "If you play" memes happening right now. You can use these below, Google for more, or have some fun creating your own.

Here's how it goes:

If you play "Bring me to life" by Evanescence at exactly 11:59:08 pm on New Year's Eve, the first "wake me up" will play at exactly midnight. Start off your new year right

If you play Daryl Braithwaite's 'The Horses' at 11:58:50 pm on New Year's Eve that first "that's the way it's gonna be little darling, we'll be riding on the horses yeah yeah" will play right as the clock strikes midnight.

If you play "All Star" by Smash Mouth at exactly 11:59:40 pm on New Year's Eve, "The years start coming and they don't stop coming" will play at exactly midnight.

If you play "Levels" by Avicii at exactly 11:58:37 pm on New Year's Eve, you'll hear "oh, sometimes I get a good feeling" at exactly midnight.

If you play "Something Dangerous" by Hoodie Allen at exactly 11:56:52 pm on New Year's Eve, the 3 2 1 go will count down to 2018.

If you play "...ready for it" at exactly 11:58:50 pm on 31st December, Taylor Swift will declare her iconic "...are you ready for it?" line right as the clock strikes midnight.

Phil Collins Tweeted: "If you play 'In The Air Tonight' by Phil Collins on December 31st at 11:56:40 pm the drum break will play right as the clock strikes midnight."

and, Tina Turner Tweeted "If you play "The Best" by Tina Turner on December 31st at 11:58:57 pm, Tina will say "You're simply the best" at exactly midnight.

If you play "Man! I Feel Like A Woman!" by Shania Twain at exactly 11:59:57 pm on December 31st, you'll hear "let's go girls", one of the most iconic lines of all time, as the clock strikes midnight.

If you play "Wrecking Ball" by Miley Cyrus at exactly 11:57:10 pm on December 31st, you'll hear "I came in like a Wrecking Ball" as the clock strikes midnight.

And, if you play U2's "New Year's Day" starting anytime between 11:55 and 11:59 pm on 12/31, U2's "New Year's Day" will be playing when the ball drops.

Have some fun with this yourself! Get the timing set and start off your New Year right.

Happy New Year!

A great concept Paula and a terrific idea for an article. I don't think I'd have the patience to line those somgs up though.
