Should you be keen to go out and celebrate this New Year's Eve and wish to take the kids along (or the grandkids, godchildren, nieces and nephews...) here's some entertaining and family-friendly ways to see in 2019.
FIREWORKS
Early Evening Fireworks
At
Yarra Park and also at
Footscray Park the fireworks will be on at the family-friendly time of 9.30pm. Music, entertainment and food are also on offer.
Cowes NYE celebration includes kids activities and carnival rides from 5.30pm and fireworks at 9.30pm.
Dandenong has New Year's celebrations in Harmony Square with food, entertainment and a fireworks display at 9.25pm.
Geelong also early fireworks at dusk @9.30pm as well as a midnight display.
Queenscliff Harbour has firework displays at 9.30pm and midnight plus live music, DJs and kids entertainment. Full details

Midnight Fireworks in the City
If the kids are old enough to stay up late then consider the traditional midnight fireworks in the city which are held at four venues: Treasury Gardens, Flagstaff Gardens, Docklands and Kings Domain - see
here for details and locations. Be aware though that these are very popular events and the crowds can be enormous.

Alternatively, from anywhere with a good view of the city skyline you'll be able to see the fireworks. Options include:
Yarra Boulevard, Kew
Ruckers Hill, Northcote
The Strand, Williamstown
Maribyrnong riverside
Footscray riverside
Green Point, Brighton Beach
Mount Dandenong
Mount Macedon
Or anyone you know who may have a loungeroom, backyard, balcony, rooftop garden or anywhere else with a view of the city skyline.
OTHER THINGS TO DO
*IN THE CITY
At the
Alma Doepel NYE BBQ you can celebrate New Year with the Alma Doepel Restoration team and watch the fireworks from a great vantage point. Tickets: Adults $45 and Children 5-15 $15.
Federation Square hosts live music, entertainment and is a good spot from which to watch the fireworks.
Enjoy some spectacular views of Melbourne at
Eureka Skydeck or take in some 3D entertainment at
Imax .
Melbourne Star Observation Wheel are having a
NYE Party for adults (18 plus) however if you have younger children you can take a ride with a seriously good view of Melbourne
earlier in the evening .
OUT OF TOWN
NYE DRIVE-IN
Dromana Drive-In has a selection of movies, fireworks, food, live bands and a playground.
LUNA PARK
Visit
Luna Park just for fun and check out their
new rides .
AN A-MAZING NYE
Boneo Maze is hosting NYE in the Light Garden with music, workshops, jumping castle and more.
Book early to avoid missing out.
CHOCOLATE, OF COURSE
