Bring in 2014 With A Wizz & A Bang
With the end of 2013 fast approaching (how quick has this year flown by?) what better way to see in 2014 with an awesome firework display. Plus, what makes it even better is when they are free - and the Gold Coast has plenty of displays on offer up and down the coast and also inland.

The beach displays have a couple of shows scheduled - one at around 8/9pm and then another at midnight. This is great because it means that those with families or those that don't want to stay up still get to enjoy a display slightly earlier on. One of the plus points of it getting dark early.

I Love Sparklers

I have had two NYE's on the Gold Coast, and I find the best places to go are the Surf Clubs (I especially recommend Northcliffe and Nobbys Beach). Not only are they free to get in (or a small fee) but they have cheap drinks and food, live music and you are in prime position on the beach to head down just before midnight with the masses and take in the awesome displays.

Waiting for Fireworks on the Beach

The beach displays last around 15 minutes and if a clear night you can see all the different displays from Surfers Paradise to Coolangatta running simultaneously. It is pretty spectacular with the lights from the buildings, reflections on the sea, sparklers and the fireworks going off. Certainly one of my favourite ways to see in the New Year.

The great thing about the Gold Coast is that there is an abundance of green space along the beach fronts with playgrounds, BBQs and other facilities so you can head down to one of the beaches with a blanket and some supplies and make your own party but not spend a fortune.

For the displays more inland these are usually family festivals with rides, games, attractions and live entertainment, usually free but there may be a small fee for these ones as there is much more on offer.

Being eight and a half months pregnant, this NYE will be a quiet Nappy New Year for me, but whatever you decide to do, I hope you have a fantastic night and bring in 2014 with a bang.
