Celebrate New Years with a bang
Fancy a different place to spend New Year's Eve with the kids and don't want to spend it at home? Well, the City of Maribyrnong is hosting what promises to be a fantastic way to spend this New Year's Eve, especially if you have children.

The event is the first ever New Year's Eve celebration of its kind for the City of Maribyrnong and will commence this Tuesday 31st December 2013 from 6.30pm till 10.30pm at Footscray Park in Footscray.
The fireworks will commence at 9.30pm but prior to this there are lots of activities for the children. They can try their hand in the sideshow alley with a variety of carnival games, there will be a jumping castle as well and food vans too.
The MC for the night will be comedian Justine Hamilton and other performances and music acts will include Vika and Linda Bull, Bjorn Again an ABBA tribute band, The ReChords with Swing Patrol and Public Opinion Afro Concert.
Parking is available at Victoria University (Ballarat Road) and in Footscray Park itself.
Train travel will be free after 6pm. A replacement bus service will operate for Sunbury line passengers between Sunbury Station, Albion Station and Footscray Park.
The Werribee and Williamstown lines will be open and Footscray Park is approximately 1.5km from Footscray Station.
Please note that the event is alcohol free and that no dogs are permitted.
Great night let down by the lack of infrastructure such as food outlets and activities for the kids, only a handful of traders and for those that didnít bring a picnic the queue to get food was over 1 hour long, parking also needs to be addressed as with no obvious control the wait to exit was also over 1 hour, police eventually turned off the traffic lights and directed traffic
