Fireworks without the Melbourne traffic
Fireworks are a family favourite. As children we are in awe of them and it's a feeling that never seems to leave us. If you'd love to go to the New Year's Eve fireworks but the crowds and traffic in the Melbourne city are not your thing, come on down to the Bass Coast. Here you will have your pick of three locations where you can get front row access to the New Year's Eve fireworks displays and enjoy free family entertainment.
At only a short drive from Melbourne and with an abundance of accommodation options and plenty to see and do it's a fun place for any family visit or holiday. But on New Year's Eve it's so much more special when a number of picturesque beachside towns will celebrate with public fireworks displays.
Cowes, Phillip Island. Head to this picturesque beachside location for a fun family evening on the foreshore. Fireworks begin at 9:30pm. This beach location allows everybody to spread out for a good view of the show. In prior years there has been family entertainment from 6pm but at the time of writing there were no details available.
When: Saturday 31 December – fireworks from 9:30pm Location: 11 The Esplanade, The Jetty Triangle, Cowes (by the Cowes Jetty)
Coronet Bay. Another beautiful beachside location on Westernport Bay is offering an evening of family fun, with live entertainment, beginning at 6pm. There will be a variety of food for you to purchase or bring along a picnic. You might also like to bring along chairs or a rug to sit on. At 9.30 the skies will come alive with a brilliant fireworks display.
When: Saturday 31 December at 6:00pm - 9:30pm Location: Coronet Bay Foreshore at the end of Cutty Sark Road, Coronet Bay.
Inverloch. They say things come in threes and the Bass Coast makes no exception to the rule. The third location for New Year's Eve fireworks is the beautiful beachside town of Inverloch. Join the locals and other holiday makers for live entertainment and fireworks.
When: Saturday 31 December at 9:30pm - 9:45pm Location: Inverloch Recreation Reserve, Sandymount Ave, Inverloch

At around one-and three-quarter hours from the Melbourne CBD and only an hour from Cranbourne along the South Gippsland and Bass Coast Highways this holiday paradise and tourist mecca is close enough for a day trip and tempting enough for a long stay. It is ageless with something for everyone from toddlers to seniors. With coastline on Westernport Bay and the Bass Strait it is a beach lover's delight. Inland the landscape is one of beautiful rolling hills, farmland and bushland. So don't just go for the fireworks, make it your New Year's resolution to enjoy all that Phillip Island and the Bass Coast have to offer.
