Spend NYE cooling off by the water
If you're on holidays in the Nelson Bay region, or a local looking for something to do, there are a number of New Year's Eve events happening across the bay. Although the Nelson Bay annual fireworks have been cancelled this year, there are still a number of COVID-safe events that you can go to - whether you're young, young at heart or have a family of young ones!
After spending the day enjoying the crystal-clear waters of Port Stephens, why not spend the evening overlooking the water (or get out on the water!) at one of these sparkling events. Book in early as each event has restricted numbers. Have a Happy New Year's Eve in the bay!
Shoal Bay County Club, located opposite the stunning blue waters of Shoal Bay, will be offering two NYE options at their unique venue. The first option is the VIP Patio package, which will allow guests entry to the upstairs Patio overlooking the bay. Starting at 8pm, the package includes roaming canapés, a 4-hour drinks package and DJs until late. The price is $165 per person (plus booking fee) and numbers are strictly limited.
Alternatively, in their downstairs bar area, there will be free entry with entertainment across two rooms, starting from 6pm and finishing late. See here for full details.
Moonshadow TQC Cruises, which leave from the d'Albora Marinas in Nelson Bay, will be offering two sunset cruises on NYE. Firstly, there will be the Sunset Street Food Cruise with a delicious street food-inspired menu, live music and a full bar including local wine, beer and cocktails available for purchase. This option costs $45 for children and $90 for adults. Alternatively, there will be a Family Sunset Dolphin Watching Cruise, at a cost of $25 children and $40 adults. See here for full details.
Cheeky Dog Bar at Bannisters Hotel at Soldiers Point will have Timberlina hosting Cheeky Bingo, and there will be live music through until the early hours. If you dress up as the best/worst headline from 2020, you will go in the running to win a $100 bar tab on the night. This event is adults only. See here for details and call to book a table.
The Anchorage 5 Star hotel at Corlette will be hosting a fine dining New Years Eve, starting with canapes and a glass of Champagne Veuve Clicquot from 7.30pm. Afterwards, enjoy a six-course degustation event with matching premium wines in the Galley Kitchen. Enjoy live music between 8pm until midnight and celebrate the new years with a glass of Veuve Clicquot. The cost is $189 per person. See here for details.
