Are you looking for budget-friendly ways to celebrate New Year's Eve in Canberra? Then you can't go past the biggest event of all - the fireworks! Gather your friends and family, have a picnic by the lake with your own food and enjoy the festivities for free! Starting from 6pm, locals and visitors alike will be laying down their picnic blankets and counting down to the 9pm fireworks over the water. There will be hubs all around the lake with prime viewing locations at Regatta Point, Patrick White, Rond Terrace and Bowen Park. As well as the firework display, there will also be a huge array of events all across the city - many of them costing over $200 per person - which is a lot. 88MPH in the Civic will be having an 80's party at a cost of $10 for pre-booked tickets or $15 at the door. There will be a light-up dance floor, Grey Goose Vodka specials all night and all the hits from the 1980's. The doors will open from 8pm, with a 4am close. MOLLY BAR in the Civic has a New Year's Eve Party with the Flynn Marcus Quintet playing at a cost of $25 per person entry fee. The band will begin at 9pm, but there will be whisky, champagne, cocktails and jazz to enjoy beforehand. Bookings are available for arrival up until 9pm, walk-ins only after 9pm subject to capacity. THE BASO in Belconnen are calling out to all 90's and 00's fans with a NO SCRUBS New Year's Eve Party with tickets starting from $14.92 entry fee (first release). Get ready to party like it's 1999! See details here .

CABO Tequila Bar in the Civic will be having a Paella Party at a cost of $85 per person, which includes a cocktail on arrival, a giant paella station, delicious canapés, taco platters, and churros. A full drinks menu will be available for purchase during the event. See details here .

AMBROSIA LOUNGE in Fyshwick will be having a dress-up Toga Party at a cost of $100 per person, which includes a cocktail, canapes and sparkling wine at midnight. Get dressed up in your finest white sheet, win prizes for best-dressed and have a fun night with friends! See details here .

HIGHBALL in the Civic has a Carnavalè party organised for NYE at a cost of $30 per person, which includes a "Jungle Love" cocktail. Doors open at 4pm with tropical party vibes and samba dance performances. There will be their full food and drinks menu all night including access to their roaming punch cart. BAR BEIRUT in the Civic has two NYE parties - an early celebration before the fireworks with a belly dance performance and a Middle Eastern banquet for $75 per adult and $25 per child.
