Are you getting excited about New Year's Eve? It will be a fantastic night in the city of Canberra, with family friendly fireworks, entertainment and lots of tasty food! Keep reading for what's on around the city, to ring in the new year of 2023...
New Year Celebrations & Fireworks will be happening around Lake Burley Griffin, with fireworks at 9pm and midnight. Take a picnic and enjoy the views from the Regatta Point, Patrick White Lawns, Rond Terrace and Bowen Park hub areas. There will be food trucks, music, first aid, portable toilets, security and DJs at each hub area. Fireworks will be set off in the central and east basins of the lake. Molly Bar in the Civic will be having a Whisky Tasting event (for $75 per person), as well as a New Year's Eve Prohibition Party with a 5-piece jazz band on stage, for $20 per person cover charge to get in. This hidden bar is popular all year around and you find it by looking up the GPS co-ordinates of 35°16'44.5"S 149°07'42.0"E. This dark and stylish club is worth tracking down! See here for details.
Amplify will be hosting a NYE dance event in the Sydney Building in the Civic, showcasing young DJ's in the city centre. Canberra Southern Cross Clubs will be having two NYE events to choose from around the Lake. Hop on board the MV Southern Cross and cruise Lake Burley Griffin, enjoying the view of the fireworks, a 5-course dinner and a premium beverage package for $250 per adult. Back on land, the Yacht Club is offering a special 5-course dinner to send out the old year and bring in 2023, at a cost of $195 per adult. See here for details.

The Burns Club, a Scottish Club in Kambah, will be hosting a free Gatsby on the Glen Party with a 5-piece 1920's jazz band and plenty of dancing! Dress up in your best 1920s gear and enjoy a night of old-school charm and jazz. Membership rules apply to enter the club - if you live close-by it is only $5.50 to join for a year. Natural Nine Asian Fusion Restaurant in the Canberra Casino will be hosting a NYE Banquet and a 2-hour beverage package to bring on the New Year. The banquet will consist of some of their favourites, such as chicken and wakame dumplings, Bejing crispy duck and white chocolate chilli pudding. The cost is $165 per person. See here for details.
The Basement in Belconnen will be having a "NYE 80's, 90's & 00's Night" with live bands and bubbly at midnight! There will be 10 huge sets of live music. Tickets cost $25 (plus booking fee) per person for an Early Bird Rate and then $35 thereafter. See here for details.

Banana Leaf restaurant in the Civic will be having a special NYE menu for the night, with tasty Sri Lankan fare. The menu consist of their Gamme Kama Set for mains, made using the traditional recipes you can find in the villages of the island nation. Walt n Burley gastropub on the Kingston Foreshore will be a popular venue to watch the fireworks, with a prime position right on the lake. Contentious Character Winery in Wamboin (30 minutes from the Civic) will be having a New Year's Eve celebration with a 7-course degustation menu and paired wines. The cost is $145 per person and if you would like the paired wines with each course, then add another $185 per person. All meals will be served in their restaurant. See here for details.
Les Tres Bon French Restaurant in Bungendore (35 minutes from the Civic) will be having a New Year's Eve Dinner by Chef Christophe with 4 beautiful French courses. The dinner will start at 6.30pm and end at 10.30pm, so you can celebrate at home at midnight or kick on!
