Sydney's breathtaking fireworks events on New Year's Eve are famous the world over. This year's theme is 'City of Colour', a celebration of our beaches, parks and vibrant city life along with our diverse backgrounds, culture and rich history.

On December 31 the best place to be to experience fireworks synchronised to Tyson Koh's soundtrack, the renowned DJ and music programmer, is Cockle Bay Darling Harbour. This FREE event includes six incredible flame-jet shows as well as the breathtaking 9pm and midnight fireworks.

Creative producer for Sydney Harbour Foreshore Authority, Michael Cohen, said, "Viewing spots around Cockle Bay are prized, so come early to find your spot. Take public transport and enter Darling Harbour from the south, near the Chinese Garden of Friendship. Signage and security staff will be in place on the night to help guide you. As areas of Darling Harbour reach capacity, security will restrict access, so arrive early and settle in for what is sure to be a memorable send-off to 2015."

Having been to the NYE celebrations in Darling Harbour over the years with family and friends I know how important it is to be organised. Being early is definitely a must but so is following the rules to help make it a safe and enjoyable night for everyone.

At this event there is no glass or BYO alcohol permitted; Pyrmont Bridge is closed to bicycles from 10am, the FREE part of the event is outdoor but all Darling Harbour restaurants are taking bookings if you prefer indoor. All bags will be checked upon entry and anyone found with prohibited items will be asked to discard them or will be escorted away.

It's very simple really ... expect large crowds so plan ahead, start out early to grab your spot, taking public transport is best and follow the rules. Planning ahead will help everyone to have a fabulous time bringing in 2016.
