Celebrate 2015 and say goodbye to 2014 in style
Celebrate the final moments of 2014 and bring in the new ones of 2015 at the City of Perth's biggest free New Year's Eve Celebrations event throughout locations in Northbridge. As the finale of Perth City's Festival of Christmas, this huge celebration takes place on Wednesday 31st December 2014 from 4pm in the afternoon until past midnight to welcome 2015.

Hosted by the Northbridge Piazza, this massive outdoor event includes a huge array of entertainment for the whole family. Live street performers, bands and entertainment suitable for all ages grace two stages in Northbridge and are complemented by an aerial rig on James Street, with aerialists performing at regular intervals in between swing dancing routines.

Visitors are invited to dine on the street in the extended alfresco areas and see Perth's entertainment precinct come alive as streets are closed for roving performances, acrobats, dancers, singers and other acts from local bands before joining in with a spectacular midnight countdown for the New Year.


The two stages hosting a massive line-up of free entertainment is the Family Stage in the Perth Cultural Centre and the Piazza Stage at Northbridge Piazza. The program of events planned for each stage is as follows:

Family Stage Perth Cultural Centre (between William and Beaufort Street, in front of the State Library of WA)

Movie: Tangled (PG) 4:30pm-6pm
Watch as a young Rapunzel crosses paths with her Prince Charming, the kingdom's most-wanted person in this Disney favourite.

Children's workshop: Sandcastles 6pm-8pm
The workshop will utilise the existing sand areas created for the tropical Rock Away sandy beach in Northbridge for children to create sandcastles and sculptures under the supervision and guidance of experienced artisans.

Children's stage act: Edward & Edwina 7pm-7:40pm
Perfect for children 2-8 years old, this ensemble encourages children to be inspired to sing along and play musical instruments themselves in a creative environment.

Children's stage act: The Leaping Lillies 8pm-8:40pm
This energetic and elegant circus show combines acrobatics, contortion, hula hoops, chair balancing and dance to entertain and delight the audience.

Band: Zydecats 9pm-9:50pm
Listen to a multi-instrumental group playing a vast array of genres and styles including Cajun, country, blues, swing, soul, rockabilly, New Orleans rhythm and blues, rock n roll and more.

Band: Shotdown from Sugartown 10:10pm-11pm
Be entertained by Shotdown from Sugartown performing raw rockabilly and honky-tonk blues, which is led by internationally recognised blues and rockabilly vocalist Rusty Pinto.

Band: Summer Soul 11:20pm-12:15am
Get your dancing shoes on for this irresistible high-energy entertainment experience that has people of all ages dancing. Move to classics from Motown, R&B tunes and top 40 contemporary pop hits.

Countdown 12am
Join in with the exciting official midnight countdown with MC Magnus Danger Magnus to bring in 2015 with a bang!

Movie: Wreck it Ralph (PG) 4:30pm-6pm
Start your New Year's Eve with a Disney film following video game characters coming to life.

Pre-entertainment: DJ Primal Vinyl, Ice carving, Suns of Fred 6pm-9pm
The Piazza precinct will include the following entertainment prior to the commencement of the Piazza stage program at 9pm:

DJ Primal Vinyl
A range of retro vintage-vinyl hits from the 50's, 60's 70's and 80's, including all-time favourite dance floor pop classics will fill the atmosphere.

Ice Carver
'The ice carver' will be positioned in front of the main stage where '2015' will be carved from four blocks of ice.

Suns of Fred
This musical comedy trio will perform an early set to entertain the crowds, which will include live audience interaction. The team will later MC the Piazza Stage from 9pm.

Band: Ensemble Formidable 9pm-9:50pm
Groove to live electro-swing with a mix of gypsy folk and electro funk with this ten-piece Fremantle collective.

Band: Dilip n the Davs 10:10pm-11pm
Get moving to beats from this hi-octane and hi-energy award winning Fremantle band playing reggae, funk and grooves.

Band: The Brow 11:20pm-12:15am
The Brow is a high-energy brass n' beats five-piece party band performing electronic/hip hop/pop music laced with energy and a heavy platter of global sounds.

Countdown 12am
Join the festive official countdown as the Suns of Fred leads a spectacular celebratory countdown at midnight.

Roving Street Entertainment James Street 6pm-9pm
The festival brings entertainment to you with live street performers in the lead up to the Piazza stage program. Scattered along James Street are puppeteers, interactive installations and street performers including 1950's style roller skater Milkshake Girls, Swing dancers, The Hag, bicycle-powered mother duck and ducklings, Message in a Cocktail Glass and a giant two-manned puppet.

The New Year's Eve Celebration is an alcohol-free event for the whole family. James Street and nearby roads will be closed for extended alfresco dining, roving street performers, musical acts and kids activities.
