If you frequent the northern end of the Sunshine Coast then Lake Cootharaba foreshore at Boreen Point is the place to be for you. The party kicks off at 5pm on Tuesday.

There's a good mixture of music on the night - for soft rock there's Paul Bellerby and the Boreen Point Big Band, for your rock n roll its Dem Guyz and Gonzo for your classic rock.
The night starts with a family parade from 5pm in front of the sailing club. The theme this year is carnival dress - seriously, go crazy. Workshops on how to make parade costumes out of recycled materials will be held between 10am-12pm on both December 29 and 30. For more information contact Gail Robinson 5485 2789 or Mia Hacker 0437 721 966.
The theme for the night is 'Bring your own everything'. It's a time to reflect on sharing and celebrating. It's very Australian.
And of course, it wouldn't be New Year's without some fireworks. There will be two shows here - the first at 9pm and the final at midnight.
So there you have it - you don't have to go all the way to Noosa, Mooloolaba or Caloundra to celebrate New Year's Eve this year. Ring in the new year by this beautiful lake with some family and friends.
