New Year's Day Fireworks at Shelley Riverside
Every New Year's Day, Shelley hosts a particularly spectacular firework display.

I only wish I knew earlier. The fireworks were varied and brilliant as they were colourful and loud, exploding immediately overhead.
A Pavlova Crown
It is the first time that I personally have ever experienced the magnificence of sitting directly underneath fireworks as they explode.
Immersive & Pretty Good
Finding space to sit on the land was fairly easy; although oddly, the majority of the open green space in the nearby area seemed dedicated to car parking.
The pre-fireworks crowd enjoying the sunset - get there early to secure a good spot to watch the fireworks from!
Anyway, all in all it was a most excellent introduction to 2015.

If you ever happen to be in Perth on New Year's Day, this is a highly recommended free activity for all of the family.

The fireworks begin just after sunset, around 8pm. Get down early to secure a spot to watch and enjoy!

The whole event actually begins earlier in the day with live music and dancing and a fun festival feeling to welcome in the new year. Pretty good.
