New things to tick off your Melbourne bucket list
You've heard the old phrase "New Year, New You" many times over. Often this relates to recovery of the shenanigans, and perhaps a little over indulgence during the silly season, and therefore you feel compelled to wipe the slate clean with a new health and fitness regime.

This article isn't about that.

Rather than right the wrongs of the fun times you've had over the festive break, we'll push that aside in favour of trying out new things to stretch your mind rather than your body.

This year, instead of going by the mantra "New Year, New You", why not challenge yourselves with new-to-you experiences to try out, instead.

Melbourne, the cultural capital of Australia, is constantly evolving, and offers so much in the way of rich experiences for you to enjoy. To inspire your plans for the year ahead, we give you 6 suggestions for new-to-you experiences you must try out in Victoria's capital state.

1.Enjoy a circus performance by the world's largest theatrical producer; Cirque du Soleil.

There's a reason why Cirque du Soleil is Canada's largest cultural export; it's an incredible show that must be experienced at least once in your lifetime.

Cirque du Soleil's KOOZA is performing at Flemington Racecourse right now. KOOZA is a theatrical wonderland of costume, live musical beats, and astonishing acrobatic talent. You've got until 26 March 2017 to catch KOOZA by Cirque du Soleil, so make sure you do.

2. Sleep overnight on a Melbourne rooftop in NOTEL

You already know you can watch a movie on a roof in the heart of Melbourne, and you've got a choice of rooftop bars in which to enjoy a drink in this fine city. Did you know, you can also sleep on a Melbourne rooftop?

Thanks to NOTEL, which is "not a hotel", but six chrome airstream trailers, refitted as designer urban accommodation, you can sleep on the roof of a Melbourne car park in Flinders Lane!

3. Spook yourselves silly on a Ghost Tour of Melbourne

Everybody loves a good ghost story, right? Whether you're a sceptic or a believer in the after-life, why not join an eerie walking tour, taking in the supernatural spots of Melbourne with Ghostly.

4. Experience Melbourne at sunrise, from the high heights of a hot air balloon.

Could there be a better way to enjoy the sky at dawn over Melbourne, than in a hot air balloon? Doubt it!

Global ballooning flights offer 1-hour air balloon flights over Melbourne, which depart from Pullman on the Park in East Melbourne.

Gin masterclasses here run for 2 hours, where you will go through the distilling process involved in gin making, and go home with your very own 500ml bottle of gin that is unique to you!
