Calling all dumpling lovers
The New Shanghai Chinese restaurant, located in Charlestown Square, is a must for dumpling lovers. This buzzing restaurant has a wonderful menu for newcomers to Chinese food and it also caters for the experienced connoisseur. My family and I have been going to the New Shanghai since it opened its doors in Charlestown and we have not been disappointed to date.
One of our favourites is the selection of freshly made dumplings, which you can actually watched skilled Chinese dumpling masters at work. We always have trouble picking which ones to get, as they are all delicious and so different to each other.
My recommendation is to try the pork and prawn dumplings and the fried chive pancakes. As we make our way down the list of mouth watering options. we select the garlic and shrimp snake beans, the salt and pepper calamari and edamame beans. This kept the kids very happy, and mostly important tasted amazing. To wash down our wonderful dinner, the hubby and I sipped on Chrysanthemum tea and the kids shared a can of Culpis, which is fermented milk, sounds strange but tastes great.
Service is quick with our dishes made available within minutes. As we munched away our dinner, we are entertained by skilled dumpling workers, who are rolling out fresh dough and pinching freshly made goodness ready to be cooked up.
New Shanghai is kid and pram friendly, with highchairs available. Toilets and change tables are located in the shopping complex. Weekends tend to get quite busy and to avoid disappointment I would recommend to book. New Shanghai is fully licensed, so it makes for a popular celebrating destination. Speak of celebration, New Shanghai will host a Wine and Dumpling dinner, which will be held on Wednesday the 30 November at 6:30pm.
