Grab your kids and head to Werribee Open Range Zoo to experience the African savannah!
Between Saturday 5 and Monday 21 April, the new indoor play space Ranger Kids is open to all kinds of youngsters with heaps of activities and adventures. Come and be a wildlife ranger, a vet or a Leopard Tortoise for a day.
The African village play area will have the children tending to farm yards, planting crops and even getting food ready for the animals in the Melako village. Creative cats can participate in various crafty activities including making traditional necklaces.
If you've ever wondered about what it's like to be a wildlife ranger, you will absolutely love the savannah play area. Keep a close watch on the wildlife by counting herds and record any interesting findings. Jump in the custom-built helicopter and scour the landscape searching for wounded animals.
The field hospital zone is an excellent play area for the budding vets and medics. As injured animals arrive from the savannah, kids will have the opportunity to diagnose and look after them and helping them to recover as quickly as possible. There's also a surgery and research area so it really is the real thing!
What's more, children can put on their very own show at the shadow puppet theatre. Plus don't forget to visit the Zoo's Leopard Tortoise exhibit as it is guaranteed to amaze and fascinate all adults and children alike.
General admission fees apply; however, kids are free every weekend, public holidays and Victorian Government school holidays! So you can go on a fantastic journey through the African savannah without breaking the bank.
