You're bound to see glitter and sequins on any given night at The Wickham, but once a week, the heels and the hair get even bigger.
New Queers of the Valley brings together Brisbane's amateur kings and queens for a night of queer variety entertainment. Every Wednesday night, punters can enjoy a free night of ribald, rambunctious live entertainment. With the acts changing each week, the line-up might include song, dance, comedy, theatre, or anything else you can think of – and maybe some things you've never imagined.
The event is both a competition and a safe space for new performers to test their material. Brisbane's biggest queer performers will be on hand to deliver compliments and feedback, as well as doll out prizes to the biggest crowd-pleasers.
New Queers of the Valley starts at 7.30pm, which gives you plenty of time to order a meal to go with the show. The Wickham kitchen has something for everyone, with pub favourites like pizza and burgers, vegetarian options like cauliflower steak or a tempura cauc and broc platter, or a fancy pants salad or Buddha bowl.
If you are interested in performing, you can make a booking by emailing email@example.com or sending a private message on Facebook. Space is limited and bookings are essential.
