Located across the road from Zen Chinese Restaurant, New Oriental Pearl Restaurant prides itself on using the finest ingredients to prepare a wide range of delicious Chinese dishes. Complimentary prawn crackers are offered when you dine there to sate your hunger while waiting for your dishes.
Similar in style to the Fragrant Mix Pot offered at Master Jin Taste of China, the chicken in the GanGuo Chicken was cooked just right with the mixture of spices used in the dish giving it a potent spicy punch. Many of the pieces of chicken had bones but the meat fell off the bones easily.
The portion size of their Cantonese-Style Steamed Fish Fillet with XO Sauce in Lotus Leaf was quite generous. The tender chunks of fish had a subtle savoury flavour from the XO Sauce. We were also able to detect a hint of lotus leaf flavour when eating the fish. Evidently, the lotus leaf was not merely just for presentation.

For our vegetable dish, we decided to order the Fried Pumpkin in Salted Egg Yolk. The pumpkin had the right degree of bite to it and it was coated with enough salted egg yolk to give the vegetable the degree of saltiness that we desired. The pumpkin was served on a bed of fried rice noodles to add a bit of crunch and balance out their salty taste.

Should you decide to order their dishes to takeaway, any orders over $30 receive a 10% discount. The restaurant had a good amount of seating space and the carpark located not too far from the restaurant solves the issue of finding parking space. We enjoyed 25% off our total bill by using an Entertainment Book voucher.
