Escape city crowds & traffic to enjoy beachside fireworks
The Copper Coast New Year's Eve Festivities commence on the Wallaroo foreshore commencing at 7:00 pm on December 31 2016. They are family friendly, alcohol-free beach front events. There will be sideshows, rides, amusements and food stalls set up in the area on the corner of Jetty Rd and Chatfield Terrace.
In the interests of family safety, North Beach will be closed to traffic, but a 'free' bus will be available to transport visitors from the Foodland car park (Owen Tce) and the Anglers Inn (Bagot St). The bus will also stop along Jetty Rd, Irwin St. and Emu St.
A fireworks display will commence around 9:30 pm for younger visitors and midnight for everyone who has stayed up to see the New Year. The fireworks will be visible from many positions along the beachfront, from the Marina and also from the veranda of the Wallaroo Sailing Club.

I have chosen to celebrate New Year's Eve in Wallaroo several times (these photographs were from the 2014 fireworks display) because it is such a relaxing place to bring in the New Year. You can walk along the beach as the sun sets, and then buy fairy floss and bubble-gum slushies along with other carnival delights at the fair. When darkness falls, you can watch the fireworks from the comfort of one of many positions along the beachfront or esplanade; and at midnight you can hug and kiss your loved ones during the general exuberance.
If you wish to have a drink of the stronger stuff, you can drop by one of the licensed hotels in main street or Marina complex. These venues will also have live music or disk jockeys playing throughout the evening. The next day, you can sleep in before soaking up the sun or going for a quiet stroll along the beach.
