Is your gardening having a negative impact on your environment with the use of chemical pesticides and fertilizers? Do you want to learn how to use Native plants to preserve and protect the eco system you're living in? New Leaf Nursery on the Northern Beaches specialises in sustainable living.
I had heard about this wonderful Nursery only recently through a friend. Situated at 224 Powderworks Road, Ingleside. You must keep your eyes peeled for their signage as it can be easily missed. You enter from the side off Wilson street. The outside doesn't look overly impressive but on entering you immediately feel a welcoming peaceful atmosphere. I came across the Watch Chicken who was sauntering around the entrance not bothered at all by people walking in.
Row after row of beautiful healthy plants, flowers and shrubs were on display. There is also a great range of edible plants, fruit trees, herbs and native bush tucker. I could see how a person could spend an hour or two here.
New Leaf Nursery is owned and run by husband and wife team, Daniel and Simone Yakich. You can easily see love and care has gone into creating a unique Nursery that not only the gardener in the family would enjoy but also the kids. There are plenty of toys and Children's bikes around so the kids can take off and explore.
Here you can learn all you need to know to start growing your own sustainable garden and landscaping tips to create an environment that imitates the natural processes using native plants, garden design and non chemical treatments that will be safe for the whole family to use. New Leaf Nursery can also arrange a free in house consultation and give you advice and quotes on designing your very own sustainable garden at home.
The kids will be so excited to see such a range of baby chicks, rabbits, guinea pigs, ducks and quails. There was even a Pig here once but he became a pet and they couldn't bear to sell him so he now lives over the road nearby.
