As they say in France, 'Bienvenue', that's right, 'Welcome' to Term 2 of Alliance Francaise de Brisbane's French language classes and workshops. If you have been before then you'll be pleased to hear all your favourite learning opportunities are still available.
The big news from Alliance Francaise for Term 2 however is its new premises right in the CBD and two very interesting workshops.
The new course in the CBD has been given the logical title of:
You now have the opportunity to learn French in the Alliance's newest classroom in the CBD; right beside the Botanical Gardens at Level 1, 2 Edward Street, Brisbane.
On offer for Term 2, 2017 is the extremely popular Elementary 1 course for beginners - they are also called 'numpties' but I'm not sure that's French. It is the perfect program for anyone who wants to start speaking French. Begin without any French and, in eight weeks, you will speak well beyond just the basics.
The course provides 20 hours of tuition consisting of eight, two and a half hour classes. Added to the convenience of studying in the CBD you also have a choice when you come as Alliance is providing two weekly sessions:
Tuesdays from 5.45 to 8.15pm commencing on 2 May and ending on 20 June, 2017; or
Thursdays from 5.45 to 8.15pm commencing on 4 May and ending on 22 June, 2017.
Learn how to discuss various activities, suggest an outing, approach passers-by with an inquiry, accept or decline an invitation, advise others what you would like to do as well as offer to assist somebody. Additionally, the course will help you to:
Greet, introduce and meet people;
Pronounce written French;
Ask simple questions;
Understand masculine and feminine adjectives;
Understand the use of the verb, être (to be);
Understand the use of the verb avoir, numbers;
Conjugate, er verbs type
Fees and charges for attending this new course are:
$ 475.00 per person for tuition, and
$ 57 for the course textbook and DVD for Interactions 1.
If you enjoy cycling then you are going to love this. It's a fun-filled, two-part workshop, conducted in English, designed to teach some of the interesting history of the Tour and to get you up to speed with all the jargon necessary to fully enjoy this year's Tour de France.
The Le Tour de France Workshop will be conducted by Claire Thorel over two Thursday evenings. Held over the following two dates and times:
Thursday, 25 May 2017 from 7.00 to 8.30pm; and
Thursday, 1 June 2017 from 7.00 to 8.30pm.
Cost for the three-hours workshop over the two nights is $80 per person
For those who want to understand the world of French fashion then here is a workshop you simply cannot miss out on. Come along and learn all the jargon and culture to fully understand the art of French fashion. You will ensure your next shopping trip for Paris fashions is a blast.
Learn all the key French fashion terms and how they fit into the history of French fashion. There will also be some great fashion tips. The workshop is in English but peppered with the key French fashion words.
The French Fashion Workshop will be conducted by Gaelle Wilson over the following three Wednesday evenings from 6.30pm until 8.00pm:
Wednesday, 10 May 2017;
Wednesday, 17 May, 2017; and
Wednesday, 24 May 2017.
Cost for the four and a half hour workshop over the three nights is $145 per person
