You must visit to be a Brisbanite
Can you call yourself a Brisbanite if you have never been to New Farm Park? I think not!

This wonderful park at the end of Brunswick Street, overlooking the Brisbane River beside the old Powerhouse, (which now houses performance venues and a restaurant) is truly a must-go-to place with so many facilities that every family member will find a spot to chill.

Roses at New Farm Park

The park itself is full of greenery including an amazing collection of roses, (there always seem to be some in flower), great picnic spots, and spaces for hire including the historic bandstand rotunda. Check the website here if you want to hold a function there.

The playground area under huge fig trees is a great place for the children to have fun. There's a great spot to purchase coffee, cold drinks, and snacks, and with restaurants quite close by, including the Powerhouse or on Sydney Street, you won't need to go hungry. Why not take your own picnic lunch, a rug and maybe some fold-up chairs?

How do you get there? You can drive there is parking in and around the site, but on a busy day you might find public transport a better option. Buses stop right near the entrance, and of course, the City Cats on the Brisbane River always stop at New Farm Park.

And if you are a cyclist you can ride all the way from the CBD on the cycle path beside the river.

The park has a great history - you can read it here.

On Saturdays it's busy as the Jan Power's Powerhouse Markets are held around the Powerhouse from 6 am to 12 noon - a great local market.

So make a note in your TO VISIT List, and make sure you visit at least once!!!

Yes its a wonderful park. I often stop there for a break during the week. I went there a couple of weeks ago when I had some time off and sat by the river watching the ferries etc go past. The ferry terminal is right there of course.
