New Farm to Newstead River Boardwalk

Newly discovered
On these gorgeous autumn days, when the blue sky is uninterrupted and the sun warms you right through, rediscover the joys of walking by the Brisbane River.

We did the walk from New Farm to Newstead House along the boardwalk. You can choose how you want to approach it. We parked in New Farm Park and walked onto the boardwalk. You could choose to park at Newstead and do it the other way round.

Whichever way, it is a very pleasant walk along the river. If you have time, pop in to see the house as it is the oldest in Brisbane and is beautifully preserved.

If you don't have time or if the house is not open, then walk in its gardens to get a view from the hill and head back along the path you came.

It will take an hour, perhaps even an hour and a half if you, like me, like to dawdle and take in the little signs and the information along the way.

On display are a series of plaques and submarine shaped benches that tell the story of submarine events during WW1 to WW2 and to the current day.
