Take a Tour of Italy on Tuesday Nights
Tuesday nights are the special "Regional Italian Night" here at the Neutral Bay Bar & Diner.

Every week, the chefs will take you on a Food Tour to a different part of Italy for a mere token of $30 for 2 courses or $40 with a glass of wine.



With a name like Neutral Bay Bar & Diner, we were half-expecting an American-style diner - the ones with booth seating, loud jukebox music and Elvis posters on the wall... We were certainly surprised when we entered a posh Italian trattoria



We were shown to a comfortable, cozy timber booth. The restaurant looked much more spacious inside. The high partitions allow a quiet dining experience and some privacy.

The interior decoration is contemporary, casual and comfortable.
A very simple pleasant ambience.

We were excited to open the menus. The menu choices looked great and the pricing was very reasonable.



The head waiter was helpful, efficient and attentive. After a good discussion with him on how to maximize the enjoyment of tonight, We decided to get a Tuesday's 'Tour of Italy' Set Menu and some al-carte dishes. This way we can sample their various signature dishes.



We adored this tempura-style zucchini flowers entree ($5 each). They were beautiful crunchy in waffer-light coating; and they were stuffed with a creamy mix of pecorino, buffalo mozzarella and ricotta on the inside.

It was gorgeously delicious from stem to flower. Easily the best I've tasted so far. We couldn't help it but asked for another serving.



We've also ordered the Seasonal Board Salad Special - Burrata & Heirloom Tomato ($19.00). We've never heard of Burrata and the experienced waiter explained to us that it's a fresh artisan Italian cheese made from mozzarella and cream; and one of the most expensive mozzarella cheese one can buy.

If you love your mozzarella or ricotta - it is one fantastic salad dish. Look at the generous size they serve with the heirloom tomato salad.

The cheese was cured at the centre to give a rich soft stringy texture. The salad was refreshing and complemented well together.



The Entree Salad part of the "Tour of Italy" Set Course: Prosciutto with Radicchio salad & peach.

The Italian chicory has a bitter taste, but mellowed when paired with the sweet peach slices and the salty prosciutto.

We were impressed with the presentation and balance of flavours.



The 'Tour of Italy' Main dish: Fettucinin Rigate Al Ragu

I am a pasta girl and I am not easily impressed with mediocre pasta but I got the wow factor with this dish.



This was one good Ragu pasta. The meaty sauce was flavorsome. It was a well-cooked Italian comfort food. We enjoyed every strand of the al-dente fettuccine and wished we could have this all the time.

We thoroughly enjoyed the wonderful two course dinner special.



Our second main Sher Wagyu Skirt steak ($30.00) was cooked to perfection, the sauce complemented the meat tastefully. The dish was mouth melting delicious.




We barely had room for dessert, but our waiter politely informed us about their mini dessert choices and we happily ordered a couple just to sample.



Small Treats - Raspberry and Champagne granita ($3.00) and Dulce de Leche ice cream sandwich - with choc fudge sauce ($8.00)

These were very chic.

We loved the half sized portions. We shared these desserts and they were the perfect finish to the night.

A table of 12 was seated next to us and from the laughs and smiles, I think they enjoyed their night as well.



Beautiful well-priced Italian food and attentive services... how could we miss this gem all these times?

We would highly recommended this place for that special group occasions.
