It's no mean feat, but I think this has to be Melbourne's best happy hour. Well, at least the best one I've found. Don't get me wrong, I'm not out trawling for happy hours every day, but this one happens to be easily found and hard to refuse.

From 4-7pm all draught beers and selected wines are $5. Jugs of Boags and some other beer I'd never heard of are $10 and Carlton Draught is $12 a jug also.

Network also has lots of food specials, and the food is good value anyway, but with specials its great. The pizzas are large and not too heavily loaded which is one of my pet hates. But lets be honest it's mostly the drinks specials that'll drag people in.

It's very well located, being inside the station proper, and attracts large crowds of people after work and pre and post football matches at Etihad Stadium.

I do have a soft spot for a good bar in a station. When travelling throughout Spain many years ago I found some great little bars and restaurants in stations that not only attracted people in the station, they were a destination unto themselves. I kid you not, some of the best tapas I've ever had was in a train station.

The only downside I can see for Network is that given the stellar drinks specials, it might well be difficult to find a seat at the busiest of times.
