Network 10 Studios

Recently, two very dear friends of mine took me on a secret outing for my birthday. I was mysteriously taken on the train where we departed in South Yarra, making our way down Toorak Rd. When we arrived I was more than pleasantly surprised to discover our destination was the Channel 10 studios. I was about to be a part of the studio audience for my favorite TV morning show, The Circle.

The studio, which is situated on level 4 of the Como Centre on Chapel St, is host to many shows. The set is transformed each day to cater for programs such as Before the Game and The 7pm Project. On your arrival, you are met by a Channel 10 employee who marks you off the guest list. Then, you are escorted into a waiting room where you sign in and are instructed on the conditions of entry. As the count down to the show begins, and the excitement builds, you are ushered through the inner workings of the studio. When you walk onto set you're surprised at how much smaller it looks in real life. And then you see the cameras, that's when it sinks in that it's almost show time.

Give your favorite show a visit today!

You take a seat and are introduced to the floor host, who is like your entertainment for the ad breaks of the show. You're instructed that your job, as the audience, is to clap as loudly as possible, and laugh at all the host's jokes. Ah, the magic of television. It's then that the hosts come onto set. They give the audience a wave, then they're off to work. The countdown begins. 5, 4, 3, 2, 1 - and we're on the air.

The show is entertaining and informative. They cover multiple subjects and have interesting guests. But to be honest, I thought the show hosts would interact more with the audience. However, I wasn't disappointed. A perk of being in the audience is the fact that they supply you with lollies and free giveaways. The show goes for two hours, but definitely doesn't feel long, because mostly you're having such a good time. And the best part of being a member of the live studio audience? The fact that it's absolutely free. So you've got no excuse not to check out your favourite Channel 10 show today.
