Nero's Gelato Café is located in the main street in Nelson Bay, in the heart of Port Stephens. There are two ice creameries in town, with the other one located at the d'Albora Marinas down by the water. This gelato outlet, however, is more like a café - with French patisserie seating outside and a dark and cosy interior, with a rock feature wall stretching along one side. This dark interior is the perfect cool escape to walk into on a hot summer's day, when all you want to do is cool down with a delicious, creamy gelato...and I mean delicious!



When you walk into the café, you soon spot the brightly coloured, freshly-whipped gelato all lined up in two display windows. Every time our family has visited this café (which has been a lot!), there are new and exciting flavours to choose from, with 26 flavours always on display. All of the gelato varieties have been made on-site, with traditional flavours mixed in with some interesting combinations.

Some of our favourites have been Chocolate & Coffee, Lychee, Mango, Cookies & Cream, Turkish Delight and Mint. With so many colourful options, which one would you choose?







A single cone (or cup) with one scoop costs $5 (at the time of writing), or you can have a double scoop for $7.50. If you don't feel like gelato, there is also coffee, thick shakes, cake and iced chocolates, for a cold treat on a hot summer day. Although this venue is popular all summer long, it is also just as popular in winter as it has plenty of indoor seating, a cosy interior and hot, steamy drinks on the menu.

Please note that this venue is cash only - however, there are ATM's nearby on the road outside, or Woolworths is nearby to get cash out without the surcharge. I have also heard a few locals mention that they are disappointed that Neros don't do taste tests, however, everything looks so good - just take the plunge and pick a flavour that sounds delicious to you. I can almost guarantee that you will love every one!



Nero's Gelato Café is a favourite for both locals and tourists alike, due to their range of options and smooth, punchy flavours which cools you down, every time you visit. It is also the cafe atmosphere which makes it so enjoyable, so you can sit back and relax and watch the world go by, along the busy Magnus Street in Nelson Bay.

With 26 flavours to try, you could go back each weekend for half a year and only just get through them all. Why don't you try a new flavour this weekend?
