I have recently fallen in love with this park, or moreover my 15 month old son has.

Situated north of the River, near Joondalup, just off Lakeside Drive, this park features all the great essentials you need for a fun play date or for a family picnic.

The park features a well appointed playground (semi enclosed), BBQ facilities, toilets and some well placed trees providing great patches of shade.

The park spills out onto Lake Joondalup with a jetty you can walk out onto to spot all the local wildlife. Whenever I go, there are a number of avid bird watchers and photographers who use this vantage point to get closure to nature.

The Playground

This is our current favourite part of the park for us. I'm sure when my son is older, we'll indulge in more of the nature based activities within the park, but for now, this is where we base ourselves.

The playground is best suited for probably the 1-4 age demographic of playground goers, with a variety of playground fanfare suited for those of the miniature stature.

My son particularly enjoys the little train and train carriages that circle the park as these are particularly great for clamouring in and out of and for the endless games of hide and seek.

There's also a great climbing frame with obligatory spiral slide, as well as a host of see saws and bouncing paraphernalia! There are no swings at this park, which I do not see as a negative - moreover, there are unrelenting requests for more swing pushes. This gets a big thumbs up from many of my mum friends with older kids.

What Else?

For the older kids, there are the opportunities for bush walks and wildlife spotting. There is always a plenitude of bird life in the park and the white cockatoos seem particularly friendly.

There is a lovely path that goes around Lake Joondalup - so perfect if your child is trying out there new bike, or if you're an adult looking for a new bike path.

There is no coffee shop in the absolute vicinity - however most weekends there is a coffee van (average) and an ice cream (delightful).

Alternatively, make a quick stop off on Lakeside Drive prior to entering the park to the lovely pātisserie Sugar and Spice - great coffees and cakes!
