There are many music icons and Neil Diamond is certainly one of them. He is one of the few entertainers who has toured Perth regularly during his lengthy career.

Neil Diamond was born Neil Leslie Diamond in the Coney Island section of Brooklyn, New York City, on 24th January, 1941. His parents were of Polish descent and he was given a $9 acoustic guitar for a birthday gift, which started off his interest in music.

By the time Neil was 15 years old, he had written his first song entitled Here Them Bells. Then, in 1958, Neil went to University to study medicine, however, this did not interest him as much as his music did and he dropped out at the end of his junior year.

While still at high school, Neil sang in the 100-member chorus, with classmate Barbra Streisand, although the two would not formally meet again until over 20 years later, when they recorded that inimitable record together You Don't Bring Me Flowers which was an outstanding hit.

After this, his music career started, albeit very slowly. By now, he was writing his own songs and after a chance meeting with a well-known record producing team, he landed a contract with Bang Records.

In 1966 he recorded his first album which featured the hit songs Solitary Man and Cherry, Cherry. After this, he went on, with a different recording company, to release his first gold album.

In 1970, Neil introduced British rock star, Elton John in Hollywood, and a year later, he signed a $5 million contract - and as they say, the rest is history.

Neil Diamond was however shy and the cameras of an acting studio inhibited him, so he has turned down many acting, though he has appeared in several films, his last one being The Jazz Singer. For his role in The Jazz Singer, Neil Diamond became the first ever "Winner" of a Worst Actor Razzie Award.

After this event, he never appeared in a movie again, apart from appearing as himself, as he was aware he had little acting talent.

Nowadays he still tours and writes vast amounts of music for both himself and other singers.

Neil Diamond's extraordinary career spans five decades and he has performed hits for generation after generation of loyal fans.

He has sold over 130 million albums worldwide and has had 37 Top 40 singles and 16 Top 10 albums! He is a Grammy Award-winning artist, a member of the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame, the Songwriters Hall of Fame and has received the Sammy Cahn Lifetime Achievement Award, which is one of the highest honours bestowed upon songwriters.

Neil Diamond appeals to all ages and he is charismatic and openhearted in all of his performances of these songs.

Teg Dainty, Zaccaria Events and Sandalford Wines are proud to announce that Neil Diamond will perform at the Sandalford Estate, Swan Valley, as part of his very successful 50 Year Anniversary Tour, and this will be his only performance in Western Australia on this tour.

Although now almost 77 years old, Neil Diamond is still looking slim and seems to have aged gracefully, while still having a lot to offer a live audience.

Now is your chance to see him at this one and only concert in the Swan Valley on 14th April 2018, so head on to the booking site to get your tickets before it is sold out.
